I actually started playing guitar when I was 12 years old. I joined a little band with my buddy who was a drummer. When I would look over at his drums, the drums were always looking back at me. So I would sit on them and play every chance I got. The next things I knew I was asked to play a couple of songs on them and that was it....I was hooked.
My first drumset was a used Pearl set. I would sit in my room for hours with headphones and play to the sounds of Chicago, Alice Cooper, Led Zepplin, the Stones and other bands like that. I just couldn't get enough. I then purchased a chrome Slingerland kit.
Next I met Jeff and Carl and we formed Ontario Rocks. What a crazy time that was. We parted ways, but after a while we got back together. I now had a Tama Superstar kit with Paste cymbals. WQhat a killer sound that kit made. I loved that set.
Well, once again we went our own ways and purchased a double bass Ludwig kit that Eric Carr had done a demo on at Ontario Music. That kit was beautiful and I played in a few different projects with it. I even bumped it down to a 4 piece kit and played country music for a while. But Rock is where it's at for me. This is the third time back together. It's magical and better than ever. I love these guys, they're like brothers to me. I thank God that I'm hooked up with these guys as buddys and musicians.
My influences are - Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Tommy Aldridge, Gregg Bissonette, Alex Van Halen, Simon Phillips, Joey Kramer, Steve Smith, Dave Weckl, Carmine and Vinny Appice, Rod Morganstein, Stewart Copeland and Ansley Dunbar.I love listening to Deen Castronovo, Deny Carey, John Otto, Tommy Stewart, Bernie Dresel, Rob Bourdon, Travis Barker, WUV of POD and the drummer of Seven Dust. These guys bring alot to the table.I now play DW drums with Sabian cymbals, a Gibraltar cage, Aquarian heads on all pieces except for my snare which I have an Ambassador head. I use Vic Firth 5B wood tips by the shit load.
